When to choose stainless steel
Stainless steel is useful where corrosion resistance and an exposed metal surface matter. Typical flat parts include cover plates, panels, fixtures and decorative profiles. Choose the grade and finish to suit where the part will be used and how it needs to look.

Need a particular grade or type?
If you need a particular stainless grade, such as 304 or 316, or a material certificate, tell us before ordering. We can confirm whether the grade and surface finish you need are available.
Hole sizes, part sizes and fit
Our usual cutting tolerance is ±0.2 mm: the finished size can be slightly larger or smaller than the drawing. Larger parts or complex shapes can vary more. If a hole or edge must fit another part precisely, discuss it with us before ordering. The table shows the smallest holes and slots we can cut; a hole for a bolt or pin may need to be larger to give the right fit.

Check the width and height of the whole part, including any tabs sticking out. Check each hole in the preview too. These values match our design guide; your quote confirms the current limits for the selected material and thickness.
Surface finish and cut edges
Stainless steel is corrosion resistant, but the environment, grade and surface condition still matter. A cut edge can look different from the sheet face. If a visible face must have a particular brushed direction, polish or protective film, discuss it before ordering.
Deburring is included: we remove burrs from the metal edges. If you need a particular edge shape, finish or precise fit, tell us before ordering. Our quality and tolerances guide explains what to check.
Textured powder coating is available for eligible metal parts. Check the colours and options shown in your quote.
From your file to your part
- Prepare a clean, full-size DXF in millimetres, or a suitable sheet-metal STEP/STP model.
- Choose stainless steel, an available thickness and your quantity.
- Check the preview, any warnings, your selected options and the price before ordering.
If your drawing has gaps, duplicate lines or the wrong size, open File Workshop to check the problem and any proposed repair. Then choose Save and continue to quote.
Single parts welcome. The minimum order is £20, and we do not charge VAT because we are not VAT registered.
For stocked material, production is normally 1–2 days. Delivery is next day after dispatch. If we are waiting for material, production takes longer; read the delivery guide and check with us before ordering to a fixed deadline.
Stainless steel questions
Can I specify a brushed or cosmetic face?
Tell us which side will be visible and how it needs to look. If a brushed finish is required, tell us the grain direction. The illustration does not show the exact surface of your order, so confirm any appearance requirements with us first.
Which stainless steel grade will I receive?
Ask us to confirm the grade for your chosen thickness before ordering if your design requires one. Tell us if you also need a material certificate.
Can you match a brushed finish?
Send the required finish, the visible face and any grain direction with your drawing. Check availability before ordering if appearance is important.
Is stainless steel suitable outdoors?
Suitability depends on the grade and exposure. Tell us whether the part will see weather, salt, chemicals or another demanding environment so the specification can be checked.
