Check holes, slots and fitting surfaces

Coating builds up on surfaces and around edges. A hole can become smaller and a close-fitting part can become tighter. Check bolt holes, slots, sliding parts and edges that fit against another component.

Tell us about important fits before ordering. Agree the size needed after coating and whether to adjust the drawing or leave an area uncoated.

Tell us which areas must stay uncoated

Masking keeps coating off selected areas. If you need a hole, thread, electrical contact or fitting surface left bare, discuss it with us before ordering.

• Mark those areas on a separate reference drawing.
• Keep notes and marking lines out of the DXF used for cutting.
• Confirm whether masking can be provided and any additional cost before paying.

Selecting powder coating does not automatically include masking.

Choose the colour and visible surfaces

Tell us which surfaces will be visible and where appearance matters. We stock textured powder coat; the options available for your part are shown in your quote.

If you need to match an existing colour or texture, contact us before ordering. A screen image may look different from the actual finish.

Tell us where the part will be used

Will it be outdoors, near salt water, exposed to chemicals or subject to heat or wear? Tell us about the conditions so we can discuss the required metal and coating specification.

If your design requires a particular level of corrosion protection or durability, confirm that requirement before ordering.

Try one part before ordering a batch

For a new design, a coated sample lets you check the fit and appearance in the actual assembly. Confirm important dimensions before manufacture, then check the first part before ordering more.

If you change the drawing or material, upload the revised file for a new quote. Keep any agreed finish and masking details with the order.
